So I’ve been hogging Cloudboat for a while, enjoying their wiley charms all for myself. But now it comes to pass the baton – and if you haven’t heard of them yet you’re in for a real treat. Yes…it’s more Electronic, but they’re definitely up to something good in the neighbourhood. Fresh-air we think.

I know right – what are we thinking? ..this isn’t “deep house”!

You can have too much of a good thing after all – so this post branches out a little into indie rock terrain – dare we say it, it could even be considered popular. We thought it would be nice for you guys to have some music that was appropriate before ketamine-o’clock in the evening. Serious, these tunes’ got choruses and everything.

Ahh Shit.

Apologies for the overwhelming lack of time (read: enthusiasm) to get a post up here. I’ve been locked away in a dark room with no internet focusing on my steaming pile of career plan. My dystopic reverie took a tune and  a half to shake – and it’s this cheeky fucking dumpling from my one of my top ten ‘don’t care about’ artists -Vampire Weekend.

 Maybe we’ll start paying  real attention to them eh?

Anyway, I’m shaken back to life and have a few things dotted around I think you’ll like. Stay posted!

LANDAAAN label full time hobby’s latest steal from across the pond takes the form of Canada’s BRAIDS and is a solid shout.

Have a hear at their broody new track, and first offering from their new label, Amends - it just keeps getting better.

 The skewed, dream-like vocals are quickly explained away when you realise Airhead is one of James Blake’s bed fellows – but that’s where the similarity ends.

If I can remember three days back correctly, I don’t think my initial impressions were all that great – I might’ve not even liked the hummed, off-pitch chorus. I don’t know.

But now it’s had a chance to grow on me, I’m sold. It’s creepy and endearing  at the same time.

Phoria, the pseudonym under which Brighton boys Trewin, Ed, Jeb, Seryn and Tim fly, have released Red as a preview for their 29th April launch  of sophmore album Bloodworks. It’s not going to light up underground raves any time soon but its haunting, of kilter melody and last minute surge of electro thumps make it something a bit special.
