Blog Authors
Not long ago we commissioned a 50th post celebrating our authors for the time and energy they’ve put in to bringing you good music.
Here we immortalize them in all their luxuriant glory (Hah!) until we can find a darker, less frequented place on the internet for them.
Ciao.

Describe your music taste in 3 words
Esoteric, Nihilistic Avant-gardism (…or whatever’s in the top 40)
You have gained the nickname “crazy”, where did it come from and does the person that bestowed it upon you realise you are not ‘crazy’, just hungry for attention?
Ha! I never asked for the name, but I’ll admit I kinda like it. A coup tried to change my prefix to ‘unreliable’ once – but I guess that didn’t have the same monosyllabic ring to it and it never caught on. As for where it originated, I’m not that sure. My sick addiction (read: arousal) to centre stage probably got me in trouble once or twice. Just postulating…
What is your favourite baby making music?
Depends. For accidental baby-making fun-time sex it’s gotta be Your Touch – Black Keys. If I’m intentionally impregnating a young sow (according to Wikipedia ‘sow’ can only be used for badgers, bears, pigs and hedgehogs – sorry ladies) then It’s a straight toss up between Rhye – Open or the entire Bon Iver – Bon Iver album. On repeat. 12 times. Impressed yet?
Give me a brief history as to how the blog came about?
I posted a lot of music on Facebook. One day, after a particularly productive – wait, maybe not… – chain of Facebook music posts Abba sent me a message.
“…Sometimes you pick great music, so I’m expecting you’d have fans following up on what you post and what you think should be listened to! I’m one of those fans, so I’d follow up on it bcz this is my last year in the UK, and it will be easier for me to follow the blog then keep trawling ur [Facebook] profile for ur history. And besides you get to expand to other people outside [Facebook]! So I had some time on my hand to spare and I designed a free blog for you to start with, so that you won’t procrastinate on starting one! This is quite basic but I’ve done a post at least for you and did a silly “About” page which you can change”
Pretty amazing I think you’ll agree. It’s the most involved form of encouragement I’ve ever had – and being a lazy bitch it’s likely I wouldn’t have started if it was a mere suggestion. So thanks Abba! A few months down the line and I’m rather enjoying spilling my politely unorthodox outlooks into the world, cleverly disguised amongst music tracks.
What was the first CD you ever bought?
The first music I ever bought was a cassette of Jamiroquai, Deeper Underground – the theme song for Godzilla. I merely dodge the original question because I have a terrible suspicion that it was The Cartoons – Witch Doctor EP (That said, check out captain grab ass at 0:52 – you can’t blame him really…)

1)Describe your music tastes in three words
Energitic, danceable, and sometimes soulful!
2) You started it – So has the blog lived up to your expectations?
Way beyond!!! I wasn’t even expecting to be part of the blog myself because I originally thought I couldn’t share enough cool dubstep or electro music (hence I made the blog for CrazyTom so I can listen to his playlists) bcz I was awful in organising my playlists or exploring new music! Two months later, and I have enough ideas and music links to write my next 30 posts!
3)What would be your ultimate Karoke tune/what’dya always find yourself singing?
Well, I can’t sing (I can if I want to kill people with my voice), but if I had to my ultimate karoke tune would be Sweet Child O’ mine by Guns N’ Roses and Jailhouse Rock or Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis Presley (though I don’t have the sideburns and hair). And out of Karoke, I usually find myself singing Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, (maybe because I’m always away from home).
4) What’s your most memorable night out?
I’d say in July 2011 in Barcelona. I met this cool guy, Matt, from (CS) CouchSurfing (you should read his profile description, hilarious), who took me along with other CSers we just met to a CS beach party. It was perfect, good soundsystem and lots of CS people all over, except at somepoint I got bored of them, and got attracted to a nearby group of Spanish people meditating on some African beats, weird hums, and dancing round a large fire with the weirdest sound instruments I’ve ever seen, and these people were dancing crazier than people dancing in a proper club! There was incense smoke all over the place and a crazy half naked girl doing fire juggling on the edge, it was surreal and more hypnotic…I joined them even though I had no idea who they were and we soon gave up on communicating as I didn’t speak Spanish and they didn’t speak proper English, but we connected however, and we danced, and I did get connected to a special girl in the group who had enough vocabulary to explain who they were (I wish I can still remember her name)…anyways, few hours later it was already 4am, I went back to the CS party to find Matt, who was proposing to go for dips in the sea.. and then walking back later, slightly cold and wet, we witnessed sunrise on our long walk back home passing by a closed McDonalds to our dismay! That night inspired me enough to leave for my India trip two weeks later to look for crazy memorable nights with new strangers who end up being great friends!

What is your relationship song with your boyfriend?
Tramp by Otis Redding & Carla Thomas (1967)… we can duet!
What is the most amazing thing you have ever done?
Jumped outta plane. Too predictable? OK, I’ve been on the antiques roadshow.
What would you play in your bedroom and dance to crazy alone?
This is difficult because there are so many. Jennifer Lopez – Get right!
Which band would u wish most to see live?
COLDPLAY!! Because I still haven’t had the honour yet…2nd to Parov Stellar who I have seen live and they are amazing!
Would you prefer to spend a chilled night in home (or garden, if it’s summer) with some friends for drinks and cool tunes or would you prefer to go out to a bar, followed by 2 clubs that stay open till the morning?
I’m way to old for all that ol’ hip popping malarky now, its all about the vino and friends in the garden with a nice bit of cheese and pickle on a stick.

Describe your taste in music in 3 words?
Good.For.Dancing
What is your guilty pleasure track?! (and dont answer with anything cool guys..come on!)
Spice Girls – 2 Become 1
If you had to listen to one track for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is VERY tough, but I would have to say Pleasure Seeker by Elektrochemie for two reasons; firstly the awesome synth which makes me tingly inside and secondly good memories from University.
Name the most irritating tune that gets stuck in your head?
Rizzle Kicks – Mama Do The Hump
What band/DJ/artist do you predict will hit big time in 2012?
I think Huxley (a house music producer) will be big this summer. His new tune “Let It Go” is megatron.
Do you like cheese?
Who would’ve thought that allowing the white liquid from a cows udder to curdle and eating the product would produce a very pleasing effect on the pallet? My favourite is applewood smoked.
