Jakwob has a coveted place in my heart after having a habit of showing up just when needed.
Flashback to a freezing cold Scottish 5am. The gear-van, lights barely cutting into the treacle dark, contained 3 underwhelmingly energetic and hungover ice climbers. The lesson to get an early nights sleep (pre 3am) had eluded them all once more. What’s more, the unpredictable nature of the hardest climb they’d ever attempt loomed like an elephant riding shotgun. Jakwob – ‘Under the Sheets‘ arrived on Radio 1 and, with it, the tiniest ebb of excitement. The bass hit, the speakers were jacked up and the rave hands flicked around like angry wasps with a hyperactivity disorder. The song even made the sun-rise, the last jigsaw piece in a complete re-psyche.
