This is a late 2:30AM (Leeds time) post, but what’s better than taking a break from an all-nighter study to commemorate one of the lead members and founder of a band that is always on top of my music playlist. Adam Yauch, known by his stage name MCA, was the founder of the Beastie Boys, songwriter and director of many of their songs. He died last night after a 3 year battle with cancer, at only the age of 47. He is one of the few artists that taught himself playing an instrument and built his own way to fame.
The Beastie Boys, an American hiphop band, came to fame since the 80s, slightly before I was born, but a childhood and teenage memory to many others. They continued to contribute some of the best rap and alternative music to the music world till now. For the recognition of a quarter of century of music, let’s leave the rest to some of their greatest tracks.
and now boys, don’t forget to fight for your right to party!

this is a really amazing cover! such a different take on it!
btw, according to wikipedia (the most amazing reference of all) and i’m just copying pasting here,
“the song was intended as a parody of party and attitude songs. However, the irony was lost on most listeners. Mike D commented that, “The only thing that upsets me is that we might have reinforced certain values of some people in our audience when our own values were actually totally different. There were tons of guys singing along to ‘Fight for Your Right’ who were oblivious to the fact it was a total goof on them.”".
